Goodness, I want everything to fit you perfectly! However, we all know that a size 10 varies from one clothing line to another. That’s why I hand measure every piece by the following guidelines:
Bust – From seam to seam, approximately 1-1.5 inch below the armhole. I often list two measurements: one of the garment laid flat and the other of the garment gently stretched for a maximum bust measurement.
Waist – From outer edge to outer edge at narrowest part of the waist area. In general, this is around 8 inches below the armhole. (Note that empire waist is generally measured closer to the ribcage.)
Hip – From seam to seam at the widest part of the hip area, approximately 9 inches below the waist or 17 inches below armhole.
Dress or Jacket Length – From the high point of the shoulder, at the collar, straight down the front to the bottom of the garment.
